Staff Qualifications

It is very important to the management of Mary Geary’s Childcare that only suitable people are recruited to look after children. We make a decision on the suitability of the applicant by implementing safe recruitment practices, including vetting of applicants, rigorous checking of references, interview procedures and monitoring of good professional practice.

It is the policy at Mary Geary’s Childcare that all staff will have access to ongoing in-service training, external training and attendance at conferences/workshops/seminars to keep them up-to-date and engage in Continuing Professional Development.

All our staff are qualified to QQI Childcare Level 5 and above. The national requirements for first aiders are a minimum of one qualified person on the premises at all times and 50% of staff need to have completed it.

We exceed this with 95% qualified in the higher Paediatric First Aid or First Aid Responder training.
