Mary Geary’s Childcare operates an anti-discriminatory policy. We welcome children and staff from all ethnic origins, religious backgrounds, faiths and those who have special needs.

Enrolment Procedure

At Mary Geary’s Childcare we cater for children from the age of 12 months to 12 years.

We have a booking system that operates on a first come first served basis. An Advance Booking Register will record contact details, number of days and hours required.

We maintain a waiting list where there are no places available.

If there is a vacancy or when one arises you will be invited to make an appointment to view the early years service.

Preference is given to full time children, part time places are subject to availability.

The indoor and outdoor facilities, programmes, routines and policies will be covered during this viewing.

A price list and booking form will be given at the end of the viewing.

To secure a child’s place the booking form needs to filled in and returned to the office with a €400.00 deposit. This amount will be refunded when your child leaves the early years service (one month’s notice in writing is required).

Only on receipt of a deposit and booking form will a place be reserved.

Once a deposit is received there will no reduction in the number of days booked for the first 6 months attending the early years service.

After this period a change of days is subject to availability with one month’s notice in writing.

Children enrolling in the ECCE scheme will be signing up for the 52 week scheme, the 38 week scheme applies to sessional care only.

A deposit of €200 is required for a sibling of an existing child. A place is not automatically kept for a sibling. Only when a deposit is received is the place secure. This deposit will be refunded after the sibling has started and attended 6 months.

Mary Geary’s Childcare reserves the right to refuse entry or placement if we believe this will be detrimental to the care and well-being of your child, or the children in our care.

The ECCE Programme

Parents can avail of the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme at Mary Geary’s Childcare.
The ECCE programme is a universal programme available to all children within the eligible age range – 2 years 8 months before the 1st September. The programme is provided for three hours per day, five days per week over 38 weeks per year and the programme year runs from September to June each year. From September 2018 there is one point of entry for the programme year – September. Childcare services taking part in the ECCE scheme must provide an appropriate pre-school educational programme which adheres to the principles of Síolta, the national framework for early years care and education

The National Childcare Scheme (NCS)

The National Childcare Scheme (NCS) provides financial support to help with your childcare costs.

There are two types of childcare subsidy for children over 6 months of age:

  • universal subsidy for children under 3. Children over 3 who have not yet qualified for the ECCE are also eligible.
    It is not means tested.
  • An income-assessed subsidy for children up to 15.
    It is means tested.

You can apply online for the subsidy at ncs.gov.ie using your MyGovID.

To make a paper application, please contact the NCS Parent Support Centre on 01 906 8530. The Parent Support Centre will then send you an application form by post.

Your childcare provider, including childminders and school-age childcare services, must be registered with Tusla and have a National Childcare Scheme contract with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

The subsidy will be paid directly to your childcare provider. Your provider then will subtract your subsidy from your childcare bill.
